This past weekend Londoner’s gathered at the Western Fair Grounds to sample fine craft beer from across the province along with BBQ prepared by local restaurants in the area. If you didn’t get a chance to make it out to the show this weekend keep reading for our review on the event.
Beer, Wine & Spirits
There was over 100 drinks to sample at the show which included 50 different craft beers made in Ontario. Some local area breweries were represented at the show such as Forked River Brewing Company and Toboggan Brewing Company, which are both located in London. Railway City Brewing Co, located in St. Thomas, was also represented. In addition to craft beers, top Canadian breweries were represented. If beer wasn’t your drink, there were many wines, spirits, coolers, ciders and liquor brands to sample as well.
On the Grill
There was also a ton of great food choices to sample from. To name a few restaurants that made an appearance: Beertown Public House, Kelsey’s, Milestones, Qdoba and Smackwater Jacks Taphouse. There was no shortage of food trucks at the event either. Goodah Gastro Truck is a London food truck that serves up gourmet grilled cheese. The Mighty Cob- a food truck for a Summertime favourite, serving up roasted sweet corn on the cob. With all the food options available, we did not leave the show hungry!
Come for the Beer and stay for the fun!
There was a lot more going on at the show than just sampling beer and bbq. The weekend saw a whole lot of live music, cooking demonstrations and games. Tons of local bands and artists hit the stage over the weekend, we learned how to cook the perfect steak, and Steam Whistle hosted a “tailgate toss tournament”.
Thanks to all the breweries and restaurants who put on a great show.
